One of Pru’s greatest perks has always been its access to downtown Chicago’s legendary theatre scene, and that’s especially true on Chicago Theatre Week, a ten-day celebration of the city’s performing arts. Returning for its 12th year, Chicago Theatre Week 2024 will run from February 8th to the 18th and offer tickets to countless shows across dozens of participating venues — including iconic stages that are just blocks away from Pru — all for $30 or less. Here’s a quick rundown of everything you need to know to enjoy world-class theatre around Chicago, including right outside your workplace.
Just across the street from Pru, at the Harris Theater for Music & Dance, you can catch the critically acclaimed Music to Accompany a Departure, performed by the renowned Los Angeles Master Chorale. It’s a one-night-only event held Friday, February 9th, so get your tickets soon.
The historic CIBC Theater — a short walk from Pru — is staging the Tony Award-winning musical Girl From The North Country, which features the songs of Bob Dylan as it tells the story of wayward travelers in 1934 Minnesota.
Finally, the Symphony Center — across from the Art Institute — is presenting a variety of must-see performances for Theatre Week, including a concerto by celebrated cellist Sheku Kanneh-Mason, a Grammy award-winning jazz quintet, and the family-friendly romp Carnival of the Animals.
And that’s just the beginning! You can see all the participating theatres, performances, and showtimes here. Pru will see you at the theatre!
